The Muskingum softball team wrapped up its weekend at the Triangle Collegiate Classic, finishing with an overall record of 3-3.
Sunday, March 9
- The Muskingum softball team continued its season at the Triangle Collegiate Classic. The Muskies battled in a pair of tightly contested games against No. 23 Randolph-Macon and Averett. The Muskies finished the day with a 0-2 record.
- In game one, it was a clash of two top 25 teams as the No. 19-ranked Muskingum faced off against No. 23-ranked Randolph-Macon. The game remained scoreless until Randolph-Macon broke the tie in the top of the seventh, handing the Muskies a tough 2-0 loss. Sophomore Tareyn Born led the Muskies in the pitching circle, tallying five strikeouts. Junior Cara Taylor paced the offense with a hit and a stolen base.
- In game two, the Muskies battled in a hard-fought matchup against Averett but fell just short, 2-1. Sophomore Natalie Smith led the offense with two hits and a run, while freshman Kasey Timko added a hit and an RBI.
Saturday, March 8
- The Muskingum softball team went 2-0 on the second day of the Triangle Collegiate Softball Classic, improving their overall record to 3-1.
- In game one, the Muskies shut out Maryville, 5-0. Freshman Kasey Timko led the offense with three hits, three RBIs, a stolen base, and a run. Junior Cara Taylor added a hit and scored two runs to help energize the Muskies. Freshman Ashley Brewster earned the win in the circle.
- In their second game of the day, Muskingum battled against Lynchburg and came out on top. Junior Cara Taylor and freshman Kasey Timko once again led the Muskies. Taylor recorded two hits, two runs, and a stolen base, while Timko added two hits, two RBIs, and a run. Freshman Ashley Brewster secured her second win of the day, while sophomore Tareyn Born notched the save.
Friday, March 7
- The Muskingum softball team opened its season with a 2-1 victory over The College of New Jersey. Sophomore Tareyn Born led the Muskies in the circle with four strikeouts and sealed the win with a towering home run over the right-field fence. Junior Eliana Shaheen added to the offensive effort with a hit and an RBI.
- In game two against Piedmont, the Muskies suffered their first loss of the season, falling 5-4. Junior Cara Taylor led the Muskies with three hits and a run, while sophomore Bethany Rodman struck out three batters and crushed a deep home run over the centerfield fence.
