The Muskingum men's lacrosse team dropped a hard-fought battle at Otterbein, 8-4. The contest marked the Ohio Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
The Basics
- Records: Muskingum (6-3 Overall, 0-1 OAC), Otterbein (3-4, 1-0 OAC)
- Location: Memorial Stadium – Westerville, Ohio
How it Happened
- After neither team could find the back of the net in the opening 10 minutes, sophomore Spencer Zecchini opened the scoring to give the Muskies a 1-0 lead.
- Otterbein would even the score at 1-1 at the 7:48 mark in the second quarter off a goal from Aidan Moore. Otterbein added two more goals in the frame to take a 3-1 lead into the break.
- The Cardinals outscored Muskingum 2-1 in the third quarter to push their lead to 6-2 heading into the final stanza.
- The Muskies scored two unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to trim their deficit to 6-4. However, the Cardinals withstood the Muskie charge and scored two goals in the final eight minutes to secure the win.
Inside the Numbers
- Muskingum ended the contest with 23 shots, 13 ground balls, and six caused turnovers. The Muskies also won 10-of-16 faceoffs.
- Freshman Alec Terbovich led the Muskies with two goals.
- Sophomore Spencer Zecchini tallied one goal and one ground ball for Muskingum, while sophomore Jack Watts also added one goal and one assist.
- Sophomore Trevor Connolly tallied 17 saves in net for Muskingum.
- Otterbein ended the outing with 41 shots, 22 ground balls, and 14 caused turnovers.
- The Cardinals were led by Nick Asuan with four goals.
- Zach Groene made seven saves in goal.
