Muskingum (4-9, 1-5) was led by junior Christian Keller who scored a team-high 18 points with four rebounds, four steals and three assists.
Sophomore Joshua Glass added 17 points and three assists, while junior Cody Seiler had 14 points and five rebounds.
Sophomore Joshua Keyes rounded out the Muskiee effort with 10 points and two blocks.
The Muskies ended the game shooting .415 (27-of-65) from the field.
John Carroll (9-3, 5-1) was paced by Jake Hollinger who scored 16 points. Will Starks added 13 points and Tony Vuyancih had 12 points.
The Blue Streaks shot .529 (36-of-68) from the floor, which included a blistering .588 in the second half that saw John Carroll outscore Muskingum 51-29.
A tightly contested first half entered the break tied at 43-43 following Keller's basket in the waning seconds of play.
In the second half, the game remained close with John Carroll holding a 57-55 lead with 12:42 to play. The Blue Streaks then used a 25-7 surge over the next six minutes to take a 82-62 lead with 6:07 to play.
Muskingum next hosts Mount Union on Wednesday, January 14. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
