The Muskingum football team capped its 2025 campaign on Saturday at No. 2–ranked Mount Union, falling 51-7 at Kehres Stadium. With the result, the Muskies finish the season 4-6 overall and secure a fifth-place finish in the Ohio Athletic Conference standings at 4-4.

- Senior quarterback Garrett Gurney now ranks third for passing yards in a season with 2,257. Gurney also ranks sixth for career passing yards with 3,728. His 31 career touchdown passes rank second all-time at Muskingum, and his 19 touchdown passes this season are just short of the record of 21 held by Jordan Garrett (2022). Garrett's 2,474 yards of total offense this season rank second in a season, and his 4,179 yards of total offense rank sixth for a career.
- Sophomore receiver John Christopher Gore ranks third in a season with 59 receptions. His 735 receiving yards this year rank ninth for a season.
- Junior receiver Cade Searls ranks 11th in a season with 690 receiving yards.
- Senior receiver David Westrick ranks 17th in a season with 617 receiving yards.
Muskingum struck first, putting together an impressive 12-play, 82-yard opening drive. Senior quarterback Garrett Gurney capped the series with a three-yard touchdown run to give the Muskies an early 7-0 advantage. Gurney finished the game 17-of-26 passing for 148 yards and added 16 carries on the ground.
Sophomore receiver John Christopher Gore led the Muskie receiving corps with seven catches for 46 yards, while senior receiver David Westrick added four receptions for 72 yards, including a long of 31.
On the ground, sophomore running back Riley Woodie paced the rushing effort with 12 carries for 18 yards and added three receptions out of the backfield.
Defensively, senior linebacker Conner Gurney anchored the unit with a game-high 15 total tackles (12 solo), while junior defensive back Jacques Marcellus recorded six stops and two pass breakups. Junior defensive back Trinton Cottrell, sophomore defensive back Malachi Stromile, and junior linebacker Lee Burkett each added at least five tackles as the Muskies battled throughout the afternoon.
Special teams saw freshman kicker Luis Garcia punt six times for 206 yards, highlighted by a 50-yard boot, while freshman receiver Samir Del Rio contributed 27 kick return yards.
