Baseball sweeps Heidelberg in OAC action
The Muskingum baseball team won two games over Heidelberg in OAC action on Friday. The Muskies came away with game one by a score of 8-7 and rounded out the action with a 7-3 win in game two.

The Muskingum baseball team won two games over Heidelberg in OAC action on Friday. The Muskies came away with game one by a score of 8-7 and rounded out the action with a 7-3 win in game two.

Inside The Numbers
Game 1
- The Muskies scored eight runs, tallied 10 hits, and added eight walks.
- Senior Weston Melick led the Muskie bats with four hits, three RBIs, and one run scored. Melick fired off a home run in the top of the seventh inning.
- Junior Jackson Duchesne logged two hits, one RBI, and one run scored to fuel the offense.
- Senior Tobie Teke, freshman Jasper Owens, sophomore Conner Thamann, and sophomore Grant Mellerson each tallied a hit to pace the Muskies.
- Sophomore Aiden Reis and junior Sam Palmieri each walked twice and combined for three runs scored.
- Graduate student Erik Cover got the start on the mound and went eight innings for Muskingum. Cover struck out five batters in his action.
- Freshman Coleman Harvey, junior Yuzo Ishioka, and freshman Jake Valentine each came in for relief in the contest.
Game 2
- The Muskies finished with seven runs, nine hits, three walks, and six RBIs.
- Thamann and Reis each recorded two hits to lead the Muskies.
- Senior Tobie Teke notched a triple while also adding three RBI's and a run scored to pace the offense.
- Palmieri, Mellerson, Melick, and freshman Lex Castaneda each added a hit.
- Castaneda, Palmieri, Melick, and Reis each had a double.
- Castaneda stole a base for Muskingum.
- Sophomore Gavin Schultz earned the start in game two and went six innings while striking out nine batters.
- Junior Jake Roshau came in for relief and went three innings with six strikeouts to close things out.
