Women's Bowling finishes second at OBC #3
The Muskingum women’s bowling team was back in action on Thursday, January 22, in Columbus at the Columbus Square Bowling Palace for OBC #3.
The Muskingum women's bowling team was back in action on Thursday, January 22, in Columbus at the Columbus Square Bowling Palace for OBC #3.
The Muskies started strong and sat in third place after the first game. The Muskies bounced back with a strong second game of 1,005, led by a 246 from sophomore Faith Smith and a 223 from sophomore Bridget Cake. The game allowed the Muskies to leap into second place heading into the final team game.
In the third game, the Muskies saw a consistent performance across the board, led by junior Tayler Clark's 213, to maintain a strong hold on second place heading into the baker games.
Clark earned a fourth-place finish on the All-Tournament Team with a 612 across three games. Faith Smith added 598 across three games as she earned a sixth-place finish.
Cake tallied 568 on her way to 12thplace finish, and senior Elizabeth Springsteen contributed 551 to finish 16th.
Senior Lillian Matteson rounded out the Muskies with a 527 across three games to finish 24th.
The performance on Thursday gave the Muskies five top-25 finishers in the individual portion out of the 113 bowlers who competed.
Tatum Twining of the University of Northwestern Ohio won the event with a 637.
In the second half of the day, the Muskies maintained a strong hold on second place with their 4950 total pins as UNOH won the event with 5336 pins out of the 11 teams to make the trip.
The Muskies are back in action on Saturday, February 7, in Columbus at the Palace for OBC #4. Start time is set for 10 am.
