Softball starts the season with two OAC Players of the Week
Senior Outfielder Cara Taylor and junior Pitcher Bethany Rodman earned OAC Players of the Week after their dominating opening weekend. They helped the Muskies to a 4-0 record to start their 2026 campaign.
Taylor was a force at the plate all weekend long, tallying 8 hits and 7 RBIs on 16 at bats, good for a batting average of .500 and a slugging percentage of .750. Taylor's on base percentage for the start of the season is .529. Taylor tallied 5 runs as well with 3 stolen bases. Taylor starts off her senior season with an exceptional start and looks to continue that into the rest of the season.
Rodman made three appearances, including two starts. Rodman got two wins and earned a save. Rodman pitched a complete game in their second game against Lynchburg, allowing 4 hits and 3 runs. She recorded 3 strikeouts on 102 pitches. In Rodman's appearances against Southern Virginia, she earned the win in game one, pitching 4 innings, allowing 1 hit, and 2 strikeouts. Rodman also pitched in the second game against Sothern Virginia, recording a save and only allowing 2 hits and no runs, with a strikout. She finished the week with an impressive 1.50 ERA and held hitters to a .143 batting average.
Taylor and Rodman's excellence performances over the weekend earned them a 4-0 record to start their season. The Muskies will be back in action when they travel to Cocoa Beach, Fla. for the Space Coast Spring Games. They will first face Messiah on Monday, March 9 at 10:00AM
