Davis and Emig earn All-OAC Honors for second consecutive year
Muskingum Men's Basketball Senior guard Duane Davis and junior guard Owen Emig earned All-OAC Honors for the second consecutive year. Davis was named First Team for the second year in a row to cap of his incredible career at Muskingum, while Emig was named to the Second Team after an Honorable Mention nod last year.
Davis put together a dominant senior season, ranking second in the OAC in scoring with a career-high 18.9 points per game. He eclipsed 1,500 points for his Muskingum basketball career. Davis set a new career-high of 33 points twice this season, both against rival Marietta. Davis scored more than 30 points 4 times this season. Davis posted an efficient 54.6 FG% on the year which ranks second in the OAC. Davis also ranked second in the conference in steals per game with 2.0 per game and a total of 53 this year. Davis stuffed the stat sheet this year with 492 points, 108 rebounds, 51 assists, 53 steals, and 12 blocks, cementing his status as one of the best guards in the OAC and one of the best players to come through Muskingum. Davis finished his Muskingum career with a total of 1501 points, a 50.8 FG%, 498 rebounds, 213 assists, 141 steals, and 25 blocks in 101 career games played. Davis finished as a 2 time All-OAC First Teamer, along with and All-OAC Honorable Mention nod, and 3 OAC Player of the week honors.
Emig had a strong junior season, and is poised for a big senior year. Emig finished 6th in the Conference in scoring, averaging 16.0 points per game, while also posting a 39.3 3PT% which put him second in the OAC. Emig became the 35th player in Muskingum history to score 1,000 career points and tied a school record for three-point shots made in a game with nine against Heidelberg. Emig also ranked second in the OAC with 2.8 made three pointers a game, third in the OAC with an 86.5 FT%, and lastly 10th in the OAC for overall FG% with 41.6%. Emig cemented himself as one of the best shooters in the OAC and in Muskingum history and his all around performance this year included 417 points, 62 rebounds, 49 assists, and 16 steals. Emig will look to add to his already impressive resume next year for his senior season.
Muskingum finished this season with an overall record of 15-11, and 7-9 in the conference, and finished 4th in the OAC for the second straight year.
