Men’s Basketball ready for two games

The Muskingum men's basketball team will visit Capital on Wednesday, January 24 for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off and will take on NCAA Division III #23 John Carroll in the Anne C. Steele Center on Saturday, January 27 at 2:00 p.m.

Closing In On 1K: After a 27-point performance at Baldwin Wallace on Saturday, sophomore Marcus Dempsey is only 63 points shy of becoming the 32nd Muskingum men's basketball player to score 1,000 career points.

Muskingum Notes (Roster | Schedule | Statistics)

• Marcus Dempsey (28 points), Devon Peart (19 points), Rashay Douglas (14 points), and Jayson Peoples (12 points) all notched double-digit scoring to lift Muskingum to a 97-89 victory against Mount Union on Wednesday night. On Saturday evening, the Muskies were defeated, 99-70, at Baldwin Wallace. Dempsey led Muskingum with 27 points on 12-of-23 shooting, while adding four assists and three rebounds.
• The Muskies are tied for fifth in the OAC standings with a 5-5 record.
• Dempsey is ranked first in the conference and third in Division III in points per game (29.1). He is making 51.3% of his shots from the field (179-of-349) and 42.3% from the arc (52-of-123). Dempsey is also dishing out 2.6 assists per game.
• Devon Peart is averaging 10.6 points per game and has registered double-digit scoring in nine contests this season.
• Brandon Keyes is averaging 4.1 rebounds per game to lead the squad.
• Muskingum has scored 70 or more points in each game this season.
• Overall, the Muskies are third in scoring offense (84.6 points per game), fourth in free throw percentage (.751), and fifth in steals per game (6.7) in the OAC.
• Earlier this season, the Muskies defeated Capital at home, 86-74, while falling, 115-74 at John Carroll.

• Capital is coming off an 85-74 victory against Otterbein.
• The Raiders are sixth in the league standings with a 4-6 record.
• Three Capital players are averaging double-digit scoring: Junior's Joey Weingartner (15.5), Austin Schreck (14.2), and Caleb Cox (10.4).
• Weingartner is ranked seventh, while Schreck is 12th in the conference in points per game, averaging 15.5 and 14.2, respectively.
