Muskies Explode for Season-High 23 Runs in Win

The Muskingum Baseball team hosted Bethany for a game at the Mose Morehead field on Sunday afternoon. The Muskies' offense exploded for a season-high 23 runs on 18 hits. They recorded 7 doubles on the day as well, which was a season high.

How it Happened
- The Muskies started out hot with 7 runs in the first inning, and Conner Thamann had a 3-run homer in the inning. The Muskies scored just one run in the second inning, which Bethany matched with one of their own. The Muskies got back to it with 2 runs in the third and then a 6-run inning in the fourth. The Muskies recorded 3 more runs in the fifth and 4 in the sixth to round out their scoring and make the score 23-1. Bethany scored a run in the eighth inning to bring the score to 23-2.
Highlights
- Junior Conner Thamann led the Muskies with 3 hits on 4 at-bats. Thamann recorded a home run and had 3 RBIs on the afternoon.
- Juniors Aiden Reis and Grant Mellerson each recorded 3 hits. Mellerson also had 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Reis scored 4 runs for the Muskies.
- Senior Mike Davis, sophomore Jasper Owens, and freshman Tyler Mastro each tallied 2 hits apiece. Owens also had 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Mastro added 4 RBIs and 1 run scored. Davis rounded it out with 3 runs scored.
- Senior Jackson Duchesne, sophomore Daelyn Jarman, and freshman Chase Cox each recorded 2 RBIs on the afternoon.
- The Muskies recorded 23 runs on 18 hits with 20 RBIs.
- Freshman Zander Roades started on the mound for the Muskies and pitched 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits and had 5 strikeouts.
- Releivers junior Jayden Helmick(2), junior Micah Morrison, and freshman Mason Gentry each recorded strikeouts for Muskingum.
