100 high school football coaches from the region gathered on campus last Saturday for the inaugural Muskingum Football Elite Summit, hosted by Muskingum University at the Bullock Health and Wellness Complex.
The one-day clinic created an energetic and collaborative setting for coaches to learn, share ideas, and continue growing their programs. The day featured sessions led by Darrell Hazell, Cam Cameron, Tom Harp, Jimmy Burrow, and Matt Nardo (Muskingum University Head Coach), each bringing decades of NFL and College experience and practical insight into leadership, culture, and player development.
"The Muskingum Football Elite Summit was more than a clinic - it was a day filled with connections, vision and excitement for the future," said Muskingum Associate Vice President for Athletics Kari Winters. "By opening our doors to coaches across the region at no cost, we strengthened the game, showcased our commitment to excellence, and created powerful pathways for future Fighting Muskies. Our line-up of presenters was elite and the overall execution of the event was powerful - a truly great day for Muskingum Football and Muskingum Athletics!"
Additional breakout sessions were led by Kyle Hazell (University of Iowa Offensive Analyst), Chris Shank (Muskingum University Assistant Head Coach), Josh Runda (University of Cincinnati Linebackers Coach), and Justin Heacock (Youngstown State University Running Backs Coach), giving coaches a chance to dive into both on-field strategy and the day-to-day work of building strong programs.
"This event was one of the top football clinics that I've ever been a part of," said Muskingum Football Head Coach Matt Nardo. "It truly showcased the investment that our university has in our program, and hopefully shows the commitment we have in building relationships with coaches throughout our region. It was a great day and I can't thank our guest speakers enough for being a part of the Muskingum Football Elite Summit."
The Muskingum Football Elite Summit was a great reminder of what makes the coaching profession special: learning from one another, investing in kids, and continuing to raise the standard for high school football across the state.
