The Muskingum University Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Justin Linzy ('14G) as the new Director of Athletic Facilities and Recreation Operations.
Linzy begins his role with Muskingum after a six-year stint as the head coach and recruiting coordinator for the men's and women's track & field teams at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. During his tenure, Linzy also worked as the game day event manager for the Allegheny football team and director of the Gator Invitational for the track & field teams.
"I am excited to welcome Justin back to Muskingum," said Muskingum Director of Athletics Kari Winters. "He is bringing a strong level of fire and understanding behind the operations of a Division III athletic department. His vision for recreation and facility programming, matched with his passion to help develop young student-athletes, will be a huge asset to our department."
Before working at Alleghany, Linzy served as the director and head coach of cross country and track & field at Olivet College. In his position, Linzy worked with all disciplines within the track & field program, including sprints, jumps, throws, and distance. Before his tenure at Olivet, Linzy served as a graduate assistant for Muskingum's men's and women's track & field and cross country programs. In 2012, Linzy was part of the Muskie staff honored by the Ohio Athletic Conference by being named the Cross Country Staff of the Year.
"I'm blessed and humbled to come back to Muskingum University, which was very instrumental in my development as a young professional," said Linzy. "I look forward to making an impact on the institution in a way that past, current, and future Muskies can be proud of."
Before joining Muskingum's staff, Linzy assisted in starting a new track & field program at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama, in the spring of 2012. Linzy began his collegiate track coaching career at Ohio Northern University, where he served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator during the 2011 season. He scouted prospective student-athletes, coordinated recruit visits, and managed the team's recruiting budget.
Linzy graduated from Ohio Northern in 2010 with a B.A. in sport management. He completed his M.A.E. in adult education from Muskingum in 2014.
