The story, which highlights the development and launch of the Athletics Communication major, was written by Muskingum Assistant Athletic Director/Director and Assistant Professor of Athletics Communication Tom Caudill. The Athletics Communication major, which debuted in the fall of 2016, is the first of its kind in the region and provides hands-on learning in an NCAA Division III athletics environment. Through engaging classroom study, student-faculty research, special guest speakers from a wide scope of athletic careers, and numerous practicum and internship opportunities, students experience first-hand the global reach and power of sports. The strong foundation of the curriculum of the Athletics Communication major will enhance Muskingum graduates to be well-positioned, highly-qualified candidates for jobs in college athletics, professional sport organizations, and numerous other opportunities in the sports industry market.
